OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Dentist Wade Dee Martineau has been bound over on charges that he raped an employee after rendering her unconscious with intravenous drugs for a migraine headache.
Martineau, 46, is charged with rape, sodomy and witness tampering in the alleged Sept. 25 incident at his South Ogden office.
The witness-tampering charges allege Martineau tried to keep the alleged victim and a co-worker he purportedly told about the incident from going to police.
They testified that Martineau contended "he couldn't be responsible for anything he did to her while she was unconscious."
Following a three-hour preliminary hearing Tuesday, 2nd District Judge W. Brent West ruled enough evidence existed to advance the case to trial. He set a May 4 scheduling conference after defense attorney Ron Yengich said he needed time "to see what motions might be appropriate."
Martineau has been free on $60,000 bail since shortly after his arrest in October.
