KAMAS, Utah (AP) -- The Weber County Attorney's office will handle any possible charges against the Kamas police chief who has been accused of domestic violence.
Summit County prosecutors have asked for outside help to avoid conflicts in handling the case themselves.
Chief Errik Ovard was arrested earlier this month for allegedly fighting with his adult stepdaughter, who reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Ovard was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and unlawful detention and released after posting 24-hundred dollars bail.
The Kamas City Council has placed him on administrative leave.
Weber County prosecutors are expected to decide on any charges by April fifth.
