(KSL News) -- Utah ski resorts are on track to make more money than last year.

Industry group Ski Utah says skier visits could approach 4-million this winter, including record turnouts on several holidays. Utah ski resorts should beat last year's sales of lift tickets by 5 to 8 percent.

The number of out-of-state visitors to Utah's slopes is higher also because of poor snow conditions other states.

Alta was reporting a base of more than 15 feet of packed snow, almost triple the conditions, for example, in Vail, Colorado.
