PAROWAN, Utah (AP) -- Iron County Commissioners will rescind their decision to close the Parowan precinct of Iron County Justice Court -- if Judge Kenneth Adams agrees to work 16 hours per week during typical business hours.
"If Judge Adams is available two business days a week, between 8 and 5, I would be amiable to leave the court here," Commissioner Wayne Smith said Monday.
Adams has two weeks to make his intentions known. If he's not willing to work two days a week for the county, plans to move the Parowan precinct to Cedar City will continue.
"It's not that I won't," Adams said about working 16 hours. "I am not able to unless I quit my full-time job."
Adams said he is hopeful that he and the commissioners can come up with a schedule that meets everyone's needs, and possibly makes court in the evening possible.
