PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A man has been charged with stealing the prescription pad of a Provo doctor.
The 26-year-old man was charged with third-degree felony count of possession of a controlled substance and third-degree felony count of possession of a forged writing.
The man, who was a former neighbor of the physician, had been writing and receiving prescriptions under the doctor's name for several months last year.
Authorities say the man was caught after the pad, several empty pill bottles and a drug-filled pen were found in his belongings at a Salt Lake hotel.
Police reportedly contacted the doctor, who said he had NOT written a single prescription for the man since 2001.
If convicted, he could face up to five years in jail.
