John Daley ReportingA 27-year-old man from Sandy was charged with rape last week. Now another woman has come forward, alleging he raped her a year and a half ago.
This woman says she saw a news story about the rape charges and immediately recognized the man who she says victimized her.
Prosecutors charged 27-year-old Azlen Marchet with rape last week. Sandy police say, in that case, Marchet is alleged to have met the woman at a club, asked her on a date, and later raped her at his home.
A Midvale woman who we talked with today says she was an acquaintance of Marchet's when she ran into him at a club called Dmitiri's, now called The Standard. She says he invited her outside to show her his new car, which he said was an Escalade. She says the man led her to a spot in the parking lot that was not well lit and raped her between two parked cars.
"Lyn", Alleged Rape Victim: "It happened so quickly that I don't even know the time frame, probably seconds, maybe a minute. And you know I think I went into complete shock. Just not believing this was happening and the minute he pulled away I ran."
The woman says she reported the case to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department. They investigated, but the man told them it was consensual and police did not file charges. The woman says she's speaking out now because she believes there may be other victims who have not yet been identified.
We were unable to reach Marchet's attorney for comment today.
