(KSL News) -- A Tooele family got a visit from an unwanted guest looking for a free meal. After finding several dead animals on their property this morning, the Cahoon's were a bit confused. Then they saw their eight-year old pet Boxer, Chester, chasing a mountain lion up a tree. Then it all made sense, sort of.

Burton Cahoon, Found Cougar in Yard: “There was this six, seven-year old female cougar. Weighed about 100 pounds sitting up in the tree and not too happy.”

With a cougar in the tree and a dog keeping watch word got out and soon the neighbors came by to have a look.

Burton Cahoon: “It was a grand opportunity for the whole neighborhood to get together. They were all over here to see the cougar.” Found Cougar in Yard

Wildlife officials tranquilized the lion and took it away. As for Chester, he was injured in the scuffle with the big cat. But the vet stapled him up--eight staples--and he's expected to recover.
