(KSL News) -- The Utah Highway Patrol is trying to find out the circumstances of a fatal car crash that happened overnight.
Sandy resident Dallas Todd was driving north on I-15 near 4500 South, when authorities say he veered off the road, crashed into the sound barrier and died.
Sgt. Terry Woodward, Utah Highway Patrol: "From what a witness described, he maybe thought this was an off-ramp, and start to take it as an off ramp."
Authorities say Todd was driving the speed limit, but wasn't wearing a seat belt.
