MURRAY, Utah (AP) -- A Murray man shot to death by a police officer over the weekend has been identified.
Police say the man's name is 42-year-old Daniel L. Shipley. Now police are looking for Shipley's relatives.
The incident happened at an apartment complex Sunday afternoon. Three officers were called to the complex after receiving reports of gunshots.
Detectives say Shipley came out of a unit with a gun in his hand. They say the officers repeatedly told him to drop the gun, but he instead pointed it toward an officer. That officer fired, killing Shipley.
The officer who fired his gun, 11-year veteran Tom Martin, is on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
