EVANSTON, Wyo. (AP) -- Two firefighters died and three were injured Monday from a blast inside a burning home where they were searching for children, authorities said.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately known. All the occupants in the housing complex appeared to have been evacuated safely, authorities said.
Fire crews arriving at the town house were initially told there were possibly children still inside, said Eric Quinney, chief administrative officer for the mostly volunteer Evanston Fire Department.
"As they entered the apartment there was a large explosion," he said.
The names of the victims were not immediately released. Two of the injured firefighters were treated and released. Quinney declined to comment on the condition of the third injured firefighter.

Evanston is in the far southwest corner of the state, about 5 miles from the Utah border.
