LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- A convicted child molester from Georgia is behind bars after being caught in Logan.

Police say 54-year-old William Steven Primmer of Cobb County, Georgia was found at a Logan apartment after officers received a tip. They received it from the sex offender registration unit of the Utah Department of Corrections in Salt Lake City.

Primmer is wanted in Georgia for a probation violation and failing to register as a sex offender in that state.

He was arrested on Tuesday on new charges of possession of a firearm and failure to register as a sex offender in Utah.

AP&P Regional Administrator Larry Chatterton said authorities don't know how long Primer has been in Logan.

Chatterton said after local authorities sort out the charges against Primmer, he'll be extradited to Georgia.
