Amanda Butterfield ReportingIt's finally Friday! Today we're beginning a series highlighting fun weekend entertainment--and the ideas come from you. Amanda Butterfield kicks off this "Fun Friday” with a weekend activity that'll take a little practice on weeknights.
Bust out your cowboy boots, even the flip-flops will do, and join more than 500 others every Tuesday and Thursday night for country dancing at Trolley Square. If you don't think you have the skill, no problem. The evening offers an hour of instruction and three more hours of kickback fun--country style.
"I don't look like a dancer and you would never think I was a dancer, but I can dance.”
Amid the twisting and the turning, participants say it's a great way to meet people.
"If you can dance you'll sweep a lady right off her feet."
And many do just that. Instructor Sid Lott met his wife while dancing at Trolley Square and says country courtship isn't unusual.
Sid Lott: "I've seen four people propose on the dance floor in the last year. There's a lot of older people. A lot of younger people. Not everybody is the same age here. We see people all the time who come who are married with kids and they enjoy it."
The best part?
"Besides the girls, there's lots of country music and it's a good workout."
"Come out and have fun. No pressure. Just have fun. Be young even if you're not."
That's good advice! If you have a Fun Friday idea, you can go to our the front page of our website, scroll down to the “KSL Contests/Specials” section, and click on the Fun Friday icon.
