SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Elizabeth Smart is getting recognition for something other than her highly-publicized abduction nearly three years ago.
The Salt Lake City teen-ager has been named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" in its annual issue.
The magazine hit newsstands yesterday and features a full-page photo of the 17-year-old Smart sitting next to her harp. The headline is "Most beautiful rising star."
Her father says it's a nice thing for her to happen at this time. A little more than two years ago, Smart was found on a suburban street with a transient couple that was charged with kidnapping her. The legal case against Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee is still pending.
Elizabeth was abducted from her bedroom in June 2002.
