(KSL News) -- A pipe bomb was found a block away from the Gateway Mall today.

Firefighters found the device near a fire hydrant this morning, during a routine check of the area, near South Temple and 600 West.
Police warned all nearby residents and business employees to stay inside until the device was detonated.
KSL Newsradio is reporting that the Bomb Squad detonated the device. Investigators are now trying to figure out how the bomb got there.
