OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Governor Jon Huntsman has signed the bill authorizing state funds for a nursing home to be built in Weber County for veterans.

Huntsman thanked those who had pushed for it, including George Wahlen, Utah's only living recipient of the Medal of Honor.

The Roy veteran had lobbied the Legislature for years for the Salt Lake 80-bed veterans home and then fought for the planned 120-bed home.

Wahlen said he was just glad to finally see this battle end.

Several dozen veterans, some from as far away as St. George, turned out yesterday for the signing at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 14-81 in Ogden.
