AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) -- A couple has been charged with automobile homicide for an accident that killed an 84-year-old woman.
James Edwin Hutchings, 50, and Karla Curran Hutchings, 47, were arrested at their home Friday and booked into the Utah County Jail on the second-degree felony charges, American Fork Police Lt. Darren Falslev said.
Karla Hutchings was driving her car trying to catch up to her husband in a second car when they both ran a stop light at the intersection while traveling about 50 mph in a 25 mph zone. Both slammed into the 84-year-old woman's car, Falslev said.
The woman was ejected from her car and died from her injuries May 1.
