(KSL News) -- Salt Lake City police have captured their Highway Houdini. Police arrested Kevin Day without incident this afternoon at his girlfriend's house in South Salt Lake.
Day escaped last night from a patrol car, despite being in handcuffs. A trooper arrested Day after discovering he had thousands of dollars in outstanding traffic warrants. While the trooper was searching Day's car, he escaped.
Sgt. Phil Waters, Utah Highway Patorl: "The police car is like a jail once your secured inside it. So now it's like an escape from jail."

The trooper found drugs inside Day's car. In addition to his previous warrants, Day now faces charges of drug possession and charges of escaping from police.
Officers say Day did not have handcuffs on when they found him.
