Nishi Gupta Reporting More than 330-thousand Utahns are expected to get out of town this holiday weekend, but a lot of people stay home, so what are they doing this weekend?

Plenty of Utahns have hit the road the last couple days. But we ran across many who didn't pack up, including some who didn't make it out of their driveway. To them the real vacations were right here.

While her neighbors caught up on tending their lawns, Diane Ricks thought she'd make a little money by holding a yard sale. She sells a computer for five bucks. She didn't have enough money to take a vacation, but she may have made up for it.

Diane Ricks: “We’ve made $125 or so selling clothes and knick-knacks.”

At Top Hat Video Jim Morgan's family is spending their holiday weekend celebrating another special occasion, his daughter's sixth birthday. They rented the mini theater in the back of the store. With a little popcorn, friends, and birthday cake, there was a lot of noise. Morgan says this was a great alternative to leaving town.

Jim Morgan: “There’s so many people traveling this weekend, it makes it kind of difficult anyway, so why not stick around and relax?” Staying Home

At Liberty Park we found people who came to Utah for a vacation. Robert Salcido's sister is visiting from California; she had one request…

Robert Salcido: “My sister wanted to come down here, get on the paddleboats.”

And he obliged, like a good brother should.

Angie Petzinger came from Idaho for a family barbecue. She's glad she's here, she says Idaho's weather isn't exactly holiday material.

Angie Wetzinger: “It’s a little bit chillier and this is great weather and a great place to come for vacation.”

So whether you made a big trip or stayed home, it seems just about everyone is having a good weekend.
