SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A 20-year-old man has been charged in the death of a young motorist who was shot from another vehicle and then crashed into three cars.
Gene Garza was charged yesterday in Third District Court with criminal homicide and four counts of criminal mischief in the May 25th death of 17-year-old Guillermo Padilla.
West Valley City police allege Garza and Padilla, both gang members and longtime rivals, engaged in a pushing match earlier that day at the Willow Park condominiums and then took off in cars.
The complaint alleges that Padilla pulled alongside the car in which Garza was a passenger.
It alleges Garza pulled a handgun, pointed it out the window at Padilla and fired several times.
