ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- A 58-year-old woman trying to walk across Interstate 15 was struck and killed by a vehicle.
The incident happened on Monday.
Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Shawn Hinton said Janis M. Conlonwooten got a flat tire so she pulled in the interstate's emergency lane.
She got halfway across, but turned around to return to her car when she was hit by a pickup. The pickup driver said he saw Conlonwooten at the last minute and hit his brakes.
The pickup driver and a witness performed CPR.
Conlonwooten was then transported to the hospital where she later died.
