FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- Police have arrested the grandparents charged with abusing a four-year-old boy who was declared dead but was later found alive.
In April, a judge issued a no-bail warrant for 41-year-old Martha Gomez and 44-year-old Mario Gomez after they failed to appear for a court hearing.
Since the warrant was issued, officers have been regularly checking the Layton couple's home. On Monday night, officers found and arrested the couple at their home.
Back in January, authorities said the couple's grandchild was found in a bathtub unconscious. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. However, The boy was found alive four-and-a-half hours later.
The charges allege the child had severe scalding of his feet and buttocks, but the grandparents did not get him medical attention.
The boy is now in foster care.
