SANTAQUIN, Utah (AP) -- Santaquin Mayor LaDue Scovill has resigned effective Wednesday, five months before he would have been up for re-election.

Scovill refused to comment on his resignation or the timing of it.

City Manager Stefan Chatwin says Scovill was tired and had been doing the job for years, and because he felt he had a good staff at this time, he decided he was done.

Mayor Pro Tem Martin Green will take on the mayoral duties until an interim mayor is selected at the July sixth City Council meeting.
