(KSL News) Dozens of people are back home in Taylorsville this morning, after being evacuated because of a suspicious package.
A woman called police last night, saying she'd received a package in the mail from her ex-husband that made her nervous. The woman has a protective order against the man and police say they've investigated domestic violence claims with this couple before.
Police say given the couple's history, they took the package seriously and evacuated 16 units.
The package turned out to be a harmless letter and cassette tape, but police say you can never be too careful.
"We believe that domestic violence cases are potentially volatile and we'll do everything that we possibly can to intervene and prevent any future acts of violence," said Scott Miller of the Taylorsville Police Department.
Authorities will investigate the terms of the woman's protective order and if it prohibits mail, the ex-husband could face charges.
