(KSL News) -- Draper City police unveiled the latest addition to their crime fighting fleet today.
The city bought the armored personnel carrier, or APC, in 2003 from the US army through an army surplus program. Draper police will be sharing the vehicle with the South Valley SWAT team, and plans to use it in extreme police situations.
William Rappleye, Draper Area Chamber of Commerce: "Well you know, in today's day and age we have a lot of things happening in every community. There's not really any place where you can say, 'Hey, we're safe.'"
The APC will be a fleet of one for awhile. The rest of the designated surplus vehicles have been shipped to Iraq.
