EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) -- The Eagle Mountain City Council has unanimously approved nearly 70 thousand dollars for a full-time mayor.
That money will pay for salary and benefits.
Eagle Mountain, with a population of eleven thousand will be only the second Utah County community that employs a full-time mayor.
The other is Provo, with a population 114 thousand. Provo Mayor Lewis Billings gets nearly 86-thousand dollars annually, not including benefits.
Eagle Mountain's current mayor is Kelvin Bailey. He is resigning effective June 30th. When he announced earlier this year that he would resign, he cited financial hardships he said were due to the time he had to devote to his mayoral duties.
