SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Davis County has a new mascot.
County officials hope Causeway the Buffalo will help improve the county's image and boost tourism.
The shaggy brown beast was chosen in honor of the herd of American bison that live on Great Salt Lake's Antelope Island.
Chris Dallen with the Davis Area Chamber of Chamber of Commerce said buffalo have become the icon of the county.
When Causeway isn't making appearance at county parades this summer, he'll serve as a sidekick to Ranger Read. Read is a host of the county's new children's cable T-V program "The Reading Rangers."
Causeway will also be visiting classrooms to encourage kids to read.
