VERNAL, Utah (AP) -- The body of a Vernal man has been found in a canal after he was reported missing on Sunday.

The body of 50-year-old William "Bill" Curry was found yesterday in a canal near Steinaker Draw, about three miles north of Vernal.

Curry was reported missing on Sunday evening by his wife after he didn't return home from a walk with his two dogs.

Joe Evans, a family friend, said the dogs were also found dead. He said they may have gone into the water to rescue Curry. Evans said Curry did have a bruise on his head, and it's assumed he slipped and fell into the water.

The Uintah County Sheriff's Department said they do not suspect foul play. However, the cause of death won't be known until the autopsy.
