SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah senator Orrin Hatch says he's too busy in Washington to attend Monday's Pioneer Day parade.
Hatch says he'll be working out an energy bill tomorrow and Monday in a joint House-Senate conference committee.
Hatch is pushing a number of provisions for the energy bill.
One proposal would encourage extraction of oil shale and tar sands deposits in eastern Utah.
Another would promote alternative fuels.
