NORTHERN UTAH -- A Layton woman who pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash while driving under influence of the prescription sleep medication Ambien will spend one year in jail.
Alecia L. Kap, 28, was sentenced Monday for causing the crash that killed Verna and Dean Arave in May 2008 near Hill Air Force Base.
A lawyer for Kap told the court she has completed an inpatient substance abuse program and is currently undergoing outpatient treatment.
