(KSL News) The ringleader of a prescription fraud network was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison.
Between February of 2004 and April of 2005, Cathryn Ballard used her employer's identity and DEA license to obtain over 400 prescriptions of hydrocodone, also known as Lortab.
She and 45 people used the prescriptions to obtain more than 25 thousand pills.
Sixteen people who allegedly posed as patients of her employer were charged in state court.
