(KSL News) -- An intruder was arrested inside the Governor's Mansion this afternoon. The Governor's Security detail arrested 30-year old Jared Michael Cameron when he refused to rejoin a group touring the mansion. His record shows felony charges in the past, but nothing violent.
Officers noticed the man had wandered away from the tour group and was in the vestibule, between the outer and inner doors, of the mansion's south side. Cameron put up a bit of a fight.
Lt. Alex Lepley, Utah Highway Patrol: "It wasn't a knockdown fight, no, but he did physically resist. Small shoving match ensued and the officers quickly took him into custody."
A 12-gauge shotgun and shells were found in the man's car. No one knows if he planned to use them, and there's no word yet on his motive.
There was never any danger to the Governor or his family.
The Holiday Mansion tours will continue.
