(KSL News) The Davis School District was in court today for a hearing concerning a boundary dispute.

Parents got upset when they found out the district had appointed a boundary committee that met behind closed doors to discuss the district's boundaries.

A judge ruled the committee violated open meeting laws and banned the district from looking at the committee's recommendations.

Today, the judge was supposed to decide whether or not the ban would be permanent.

But the district asked for more time to get evidence in their case saying they want to find out if other districts comply with the law.

Randall Edwards, attorney: "Our argument was it doesn't matter if everyone else is in compliance or not. You don't get to say, well, everyone else is breaking the law, so we get to break the law."

The judge put off the hearing for three months to allow the district to get more information.
