SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Efforts to preserve a central Utah site --- where thousands of Japanese Americans were interned during World War Two --- may get a jump start.

This after Congress approved a $38 million federal grant.

The Topaz Museum Board is planning to apply some of the money to help build a museum and educational center in Delta, about 15 miles from the former internment camp. Officials hope to break ground on both projects in 2008.

However, building the museum will still require private funds to match any federal grants. So far, the total cost is unknown.
