This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Back in 1955, Bob Lawsen and Matt Davis decided to start their own auto supply company. They had been working for another auto supply store and decided it was time to go out on their own. With little capital and using credit from several other companies, Bob and Matt launched Ellen D. Motor Supply in Heber City.

Bob's son-in law LaRen Provost started working for Ellen D. Motor Supply in 1959 shortly after finishing school. It was already a family-owned and operated business so it was natural for LaRen to join the operation. When Bob and Matt decided to retire, LaRen and his brother-in-law, Phil Lawsen, purchased the company and re-named it Wasatch Auto Supply. When Phil retired, LaRen purchased his share to become the sole owner.

Wasatch Auto Supply sells auto parts and industrial parts for construction purposes. The business also services the agricultural community, stocking parts for equipment repair. LaRen says his company doesn't specialize in anything other than offering excellent service, and that is exactly what has helped the company remain so successful. It is now one of the oldest businesses on Heber Main Street and boasts a handful of third-generation accounts.

Today, LaRen tells me he is in the process of handing ownership of the company over to Clair Provost, a long-time employee. Clair has been involved with Wasatch Auto long enough to understand its inner workings and LaRen is confident it will continue to thrive after his retirement.

Wasatch Auto Supply is built upon a reputation of quality products and excellent customer service. Growth has been constant over the company's 56-year history, and Clair anticipates it will continue to serve residents of the Heber valley and beyond.
