MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif., Dec 4, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Anne Margaret "Sandy" Sturges, widow of romantic comedy film writer and director Preston Sturges, died of cancer in her Manhattan Beach home at the age of 79.
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that the Sandy Sturges died last Tuesday, 47 years after her husband died of a heart attack in 1959.
She had cobbled together his incomplete manuscript, an autobiography he had started before his death and produced a wonderful book that Kenneth Turan, of the Times called "a charming better-late-than-never autobiography."
Preston Sturges was involved in such movies as "The Lady Eve" in 1941 and "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek" in 1944. His fourth marriage was to Sandy in 1951. The couple had two children who both survive their parents.
