SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson is expected to sign an ordinance Monday banning smoking in all city parks and within 50 feet of mass gatherings.

The ordinance was passed recently by the City Council.

Anderson will make the new rules official at a 9:30 a-m ceremony at downtown's City Hall.

Also at the ceremony, the American Cancer Society will honor Salt Lake's city leaders for the efforts to combat the negative health effects of smoking.
