PROVO -- A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon for the new BYU Broadcasting Center. The new building will be built just north of The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum on the Provo Campus.
The 100,000 square foot building will house all the units under the BYU Broadcasting umbrella, including BYU Television, BYU Television International, KBYU Television, BYU Radio and KBYU-FM Classical 89.
"One of the things that I have prayed for is that I would live long enough to see the building built. To have it all here is going to be a marvelous accomplishment," said Elder M. Russell Ballard, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
VCBO Architecture of Salt Lake designed the building and Okland Construction will build it.
