(KSL News) -- Some BYU students are trying to spread some holiday cheer a little early this year.
Matt Spurgeon, BYU Student: "Great turnout, we were surprised at how many people left food on their porch. Just in about two hours we were able to collect three truckloads of food."
The students in the construction management club at BYU collected all of the food in recent days. They say students and as well as people in the community donated.
The food will benefit Utah County's needy and will be distributed through the local food bank.
