Dina Freedman ReportingThe first in a series of storms belted the Wasatch Front today, bringing the snow level higher and the temperature much lower. We started everything overnight with some strong rain showers and that really become problematic on the roads this morning.
We haven't seen a lot of wind until yesterday and today and that's helping to bring a lot of leaves down in a very short amount of time. The problem with that is it leads to clogged storm drains and water on the roads.
Bethany Eller, Utah Department of Transportation: "Especially for the city streets and side streets it's important that neighborhoods and businesses rake their leaves, because then it prevents, from when these rain storms hit, becoming debris later on that would clog the road drains."
Rain today in the valleys also meant snow for the ski areas. Most of them are slated to open in under two weeks now and so far it's looking good.
This storm has put about three to nine inches on the mountains and we should be in good shape for more mountain snow in the next week.
