Poll Results Show Incumbents Doing Well

(KSL News) -- This weekend, KSL-TV and the Deseret Morning News are showing the final poll results before the election. Tonight, the races for congress.

Dan Jones and Associates conducted the statewide survey last week for the U.S. Senate race and the three congressional races. The numbers show the incumbents doing well.

Senator Orrin Hatch has a 62 to 28 percent lead over challenger Pete Ashdown. In Utah's 1st District, the poll shows incumbent Rob Bishop with a 56 to 32 percent lead. In the 2nd District, Utah's only Democrat in Washington, Jim Matheson has a large lead over GOP challenger LaVar Christensen-- 63 to 26 percent. And in the 3rd District, Representative Chris Cannon has a big lead over Christian Burridge.

The survey also asked voters about their interest level in Tuesday's election. On a scale of 1 to 10, they give it about an 8.
