(KSL News) -- The United States Green Building Council recognized Kennecott Land and Jordan School District for their energy efficient buildings.
The Council presented the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design silver level award to the partnership. One building recognized by the council was Daybreak Elementary School, which was designed with energy efficiency in mind.
Doree Strass, Principal, Daybreak Elementary School: "This building is designed uniquely that the lighting, the natural lighting throughout the building. The heat pumps, cooling systems, there are rooms designed to help with the energy cost systems throughout the building."
This is the first LEED awarded presented to a K through 12 school in the state of Utah.
