(KSL News) -- The Utah Food Bank says it got a major boost today, in plenty of time for the upcoming holiday season.
America First Credit Union donated over four-thousand pounds of food, including hundreds of turkeys.
The credit union purchased the turkies at a Roy grocery store. They say the massive donation was part of a five -week food drive and wouldn't be possible without its employees and members.
The Utah Food Bank says early donations help them with Thanksgiving.
Jim Pugh, Exec. Dir., Utah Food Bank: "It makes our jobs easier. It makes it easier for the pantries to handle the food, get that food out on plates for the holiday season."
The food bank says its shelves are low on food as it nears the holiday season and the need is much greater than in years past.
Organizers say they've received 115-thousand assistance requests statewide.
