Alex Cabrero ReportingA choir performance tonight will be the first one of it's kind, ever. Most of us have heard of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but not the Israel Voice choir. Tonight they'll sing together, for more than just beautiful music.

If there's one thing any student loves, it's getting out of class, especially to hear music. There's a good chance, though, this song isn't on any of their iPods. Then again, this choir isn't in Salt Lake to top any music billboard charts or even sign a record label. No, they're here to promote peace.

Joseph Ginat: "Music is an excellent way to do it."

Joseph Ginat is a professor at a college in Israel. Today he's also helping relations between the Jewish faith and the Mormon faith. The Israel Voice is what this choir calls itself, and tonight, they'll be performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as a way to open new dialogues between the two religions.

David Altman, Netanya Academic College: "We have so many values, so many common values -- family, bible, learning, believing, respecting."

Joseph Ginat, Netanya Academic College: "We have to come closer, Christians, Mormons, Jews, and try to have a dialogue."

That dialog began in front of students at the Waterford School in Sandy this afternoon. It'll end tonight at the LDS Conference Center, but both sides are hoping it's only an end for now, that many more opportunities to promote each other's cultures will take place in the future. It's an understanding starting with pure music.

Baruch Spiegel, Ministry of Defense: "It can show that things can be done differently and positively."

Tonights performance begins at 7 at the Conference Center.
