Sandra Yi Reporting"There was a drinking party. Several juveniles were involved in underage drinking," according to Midvale police.
An 18-year-old man who was at that party is now in jail accused of raping a teenage girl.
Police say the suspect is a friend of the victim's older brother, and he has denied the allegations. But police say there is enough physical evidence to make an arrest.
Officers arrested 18 year old Preston Blackwater and booked him into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of rape. He was a guest at a party at the victim's Midvale apartment last night. Police say teenagers at the party were drinking. But the victim went to bed, and police say that's when Blackwater took advantage of her.
Sgt. Steve Shreeve/ Midvale Police Dept.: "During the course of this party-- apparently the party lasted for several hours into the morning-- the individual went into her bedroom where she was sleeping and began to fondle her, and allegedly raped her."
Police say the 15-year-old victim was so emotionally upset that she left her apartment after the alleged rape. Around 7:00 this morning her father found her wandering around about seven blocks away, near a convenience store. He then called police.
It didn't take officers very long to track down Blackwater and question him. They do NOT believe there are any other victims.
