Sandra Yi ReportingPolice tonight are hoping to turn up some leads on the man who robbed a credit union in Layton.

Witnesses say the man had a gun and wasn't afraid to use it.

The man opened fire inside the Mountain America Credit Union on Antelope Drive. No one was hurt. A man who was there recalled a terrifying few minutes.

Orville Hastings: "He walked in and went 'boom' and he said, 'Everybody on the ground.' We all hit the ground."

Surveillance video shows the masked gunman walking into the credit union and pointing a gun at customers. Orville Hastings had just deposited money and had his back to the front door.

Orville Hastings: "You look around, and here's this guy all dressed in black, a ski mask on, and a pistol in his hand."

He says the robber had a backpack. He demanded money from the teller, and kept insisting for more. Hastings thought about dialing 911 on his cell phone, but feared he would get shot.

Orville Hastings: "And he said, 'Everybody stay down and no one will get hurt.' Everyone was fearful. There was a lot of fear going on in there."

The man walked out the door with an undetermined amount of money.

Orville Hastings: "And he said, 'Anybody come out this door and follow me, they're going to get shot. Don't follow me or I'll shoot you.'"

Hastings says a customer outside saw the robber leave, take off his mask, and get into a car parked by a dumpster.

Police found the car, which was stolen out of Syracuse, abandoned near an apartment complex in Clearfield. But a search of the area came up empty.

That frustrates Orville Hastings, who calls the suspect a predator.

Orville Hastings: "I want him to get caught and I want him to get put away for a long, long time."

Police say the suspect is black, in his mid-20s, and was wearing a blue jumpsuit-- like the one a mechanic wears-- and white gloves. If you have any information, call police.
