(KSL News) -- Tired of getting too much junk mail? There is now a way to opt out.

A toll-free number has been set up for people who want to exclude their names from Credit Report Agency lists -- where creditors and insurers normally get information to send out applications.

The toll free number is 1-888-5 OPT-OUT.

Opting out will not stop solicitations from local merchants, religious and charitable associations, professional and alumni associations, politicians and companies with which you conduct business.

To eliminate mail from these groups, you have to write each source directly.
