LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Logan police say a Utah State University student's death last month was the result of alcohol poisoning.

Police made the announcement Wednesday based on information from a state medical examiner's report about Michael Starks' death.

Starks' blood alcohol content was higher than 0.35 the day he died, more than four times the legal limit to drive an automobile.

Starks died Nov. 21 after being found unresponsive at the Sigma Nu fraternity house following an all-night initiation event. The 18-year-old freshman's death resulted in the suspension of Sigma Nu and Chi Omega sorority by USU.

Police investigated the death as a hazing incident.

Police Chief Russ Roper said last month he expects Cache County prosecutors to file charges against those who allegedly provided alcohol to Starks.

The Cache County attorney's office has not yet completed its investigation, police Capt. Jeff Curtis said. "We're trying to bring this to a proper resolution," said Curtis. "We want to make sure his death is not in vain, that something good can come from this and people can learn from it."

Deputy County Attorney Tony Baird has said the charges being considered include hazing, supplying alcohol to a minor and a minor in possession of alcohol.
