SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A veteran inspector with the state Department of Agriculture and Food has been honored for helping save two children after a car crash in Box Elder County.
Troy Higgs, a brand inspector, was first on the scene of a head-on collision Dec. 5 in Sardine Canyon. Authorities say he put out a fire, then broke out a window in order to pull the two children to safety.
Leonard Blackham, Utah's Commissioner of Agriculture and Food, says Higgs demonstrated courage and leadership by acting quickly in the tragic accident, which killed three people.
