WASHINGTON — Connor McMichael struck twice, Alex Ovechkin scored his 859th career goal and the Washington Capitals defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-2 on Saturday night. McMichael and Ovechkin are both riding three-game goal-scoring streaks, and all four lines scored for Washington in the win. Damon Severson and Kevin Labanc scored for Columbus, who have lost back-to-back games. Logan Thompson made 34 saves to remain undefeated in his Capitals tenure. Daniil Tarasov stopped 15 shots.
