SALT LAKE CITY — Real Salt Lake reached another milestone Monday in a season full of firsts and return to greatness.

Forward Chicho Arango and defender Justen Glad were named 2024 MLS All-Stars for the exhibition match against the Liga MX All-Stars on July 24 in Columbus, Ohio.

It is the first All-Star Game for both players and the first time RSL received multiple selections since 2015 with Nick Rimando and Tony Beltran. Glad also becomes the first "homegrown player" from RSL to be named an All-Star.

The stalwart center-back signed a homegrown contract with RSL in April 2014 at 17 years old and has played in 230 matches for the club since then. With Glad leading the way, the RSL defense has reached six clean sheets on the season and allowed the third-fewest goals in MLS this season.

Arango was also named to his first All-Star Game as a bonafide MVP candidate for RSL and the league leader in goals scored with 16 through 20 games. The 29-year-old Colombian joined RSL one year ago and is a major reason the team is competing for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and is tied for second in most goals scored in MLS this season.

Glad and Arango are among the 12 players selected through fan, player and media voting, while an additional 16 players were named by host Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy. It is the first time RSL has been represented at the MLS All-Star Game since Damir Kreilach went in 2021.

Former RSL homegrown player Aaron Herrera was also named to his first All-Star Game with D.C. United. Herrera and Glad came up together through the RSL Arizona Academy from 2012-14.
